Triple Hand Poker is a game conceived in a college dormitory some years ago. There were three of us sitting around wondering what to do?? We proposed a poker game (unlike a traditional table game with betting on each hand).
It was originally called “International Mediterranean Roulette Poker” (too confusing). We renamed it “Triple Hand Poker”, which somehow evolved into this game you are ready to embark on….Enjoy!!!

HOW TO PLAY
Each player is dealt 17 cards.
From those 17 cards, you create 3 different poker hands/rows containing 5 cards each.
Your cards can be moved from one hand/row to another, making 3 of the best poker hands possible (see below for the hierarchy of poker hands).
Once you have made the best 3 poker hands possible, you will discard the 2 cards you did not use.
Then you create 3 grids with each poker hand in whatever order you choose. After your grids have been decided, your hands will be submitted, and you can no longer make any changes, and each hand will be compared to their opponents’ hands as follows:
- Grid 1 for each player will be compared, and the winner will get the points for that grid.
- Grid 2 for each player will be compared, and the winner will get the points for that grid.
- Grid 3 for each player will be compared, and the winner will get the points for that grid.
The points will then be added up for each player for that game. Another game will begin, and more points will be added to the scores. The games will continue until a specific number of points have been reached. The player who reaches this amount first is the winner of the tournament.

This is where the fun and strategy really take place. The key in Triple Hand Poker is placing each poker hand into our Triple Poker Grid.
The Triple Poker Grid is what we call the place where each poker hand gets lined up to face your opponent’s poker hands. It looks like this:
The Triple Poker Grid is where you decide which hand goes where. You have the option of placing any of your poker hands in any grid you want, in any order you want. The poker hand you place in “Grid 1” will go against your opponents’ hand that they placed in “Grid 1”; the poker hand you place in “Grid 2” will go against your opponents’ hand that they placed in “Grid 2”; and finally, the poker hand you place in “Grid 3” will go against your opponents’ hand that they placed in “Grid 3”.
NO! That is the strategy of Triple Poker. You decide which hand goes where in whatever order you wish. You may want to put your best hand in “Grid 3”, and your worst hand in “Grid 1”. Whatever you want and whatever you think gives you the best chance of winning is what you do.
After each player places their hands in the Triple Poker Grid, we reveal each hand in group “1” to determine a winner for “1”. Remember, a winner is determined by the best poker hand (See “Hierarchy of Poker”). After a winner is determined in group “1” we move on to group “2” and then group “3”. Then, we add up “The Points”.
After each hand in a group is revealed, points are awarded for your hand in that group. After all the 3 groups are revealed, any grids that you won will be added into points for that game.
The default point value is 5 points per grid (a possible 15 points per game) and 100 points per tournament. The first player to reach 100 points wins the tournament.
